Director of Photography
Previous Job Experience
As a BBC trained DoP, I have been training individuals and companies in camera craft technique since 2008, when my first client was the BBC. Also as part of a UK Trade and Investment scheme, I have instigated camera training for the Singapore Media Academy in Asia. In 2013, I suggested to the Indie Training Fund, in London, to start camera craft training for their broadcast members – a service hitherto not offered by them. After an initial trial run, camera craft workshops at Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced levels have become so successful, that I regularly provide this training to an impressive list of notable independent production companies across the UK – including Endemol Shine, Freemantle and All3Media.
In addition, I have recently commenced training with non-broadcast, global companies who want to communicate to their staff and
clients via the visual image. Skills2Film has consulted with these brands on camera procurement, frequently Sony, also training in how to use the camera themselves and not to be reliant on external providers. Using the camera to convey their brand and their story is key. Ultimately across all training, I take my knowledge and experience from the location to the workshop. I frequently uses DVD examples of his work as examples and to provide solutions to the frequent comment he hears from new clients: ‘so many questions to ask but nobody to answer them!’
