What will you learn

You will learn about high definition video and how to operate, set up and use the HDC-2000 series high definition studio camera system. Also covered if required is the HDLA-1500 large lens adapter, the HDC-2000 large body camera and the viewfinder options. Other versions of the camera such as the HDC-2550 can also be covered.

Who should attend

This course is intended for cameramen and technicians who want to operate an HDC-2000 series HD studio camera system including the HDC-2500 large body camera and the HDC-2550. Previous experience in operating general broadcast products and broadcast technology is expected. Previous experience in operating professional standard definition studio camera is useful.

Course contents

An overview of high definition

The course starts with describing the essentials of high definition video.

Fibre Handling

The HDC-2500 and HDC-2000 use a fibre ‘triax’ to connect to the system. Greater care must be taken with this cable than normal copper triax and this section covers guidance for reliable operation. 

Controls, connections and basic operation

Explaining all the external controls and how to operate them correctly

The menu system

Providing an overview of the camera menus explaining the different modes of menu access what each menu does and when it should be used.

RCP operation

A comprehensive description of menus is not covered in this course. The ‘vision control’ course covers this. However, for those cameramen who on occasions need to operate the camera remote control (RCP-1500 etc) a brief guide to important procedures in included. 

HDLA-1500 Large lens adapter

This part of the course shows how to use the HDC‑2500 on the large lens adapter. 

Shooting in HD

The final part of the course covers hints and tips regarding shooting in HD.
