What will you learn

You will learn how to setup, operate and get the best from a Sony HDC-P1 high definition camera. The course will also show you the basic principles of shooting in high definition, selecting and fitting a lens, connecting to a remote control panel, all the controls and indicators on the camera and all the camera’s menu items specific to camera operation and craft.

Who should attend

This course is intended for camera operators and technicians who want to operate an HDC-P1 camera. Previous experience in operating general broadcast products and broadcast technology is expected. Previous experience in operating professional standard definition cameras is useful.

The course starts with describing the essentials of high definition video.

Setting up and mounting an HDC-P1

The HDC-P1 camera has a compact design, intended for fixed positions, and remote control operation. This part of the course shows how to mount the HDC-P1, and preparing it for operation.

The menu system

This part of the course providing an overview of the camera menus explaining the different modes of menu access, what each menu does, and when it should be used.

HDC-P1 remote control

The Sony HDC-P1 is compatible with Sony Master Setup Units (MSU) and Remote Control Panels (RCP). This part of the course shows how to connect a remote control device and what advantages this brings.

Shooting with the HDC-P1

The final part of the course covers hints and tips regarding how to position an HDC-P1 and shooting in HD.
